Adobe previews new Photoshop features

Adobe frequently releases a few “Sneak Peaks” of new technology that will be incorporated into future version of their Creative Cloud apps. In this instance, they have posted video of a Curvature Pen Tool that will be featured in Photoshop CC. This makes “path creation easier and more intuitive in Photoshop CC by enabling you to create paths more quickly and precisely.” Adobe add that this is one of many new features coming to Photoshop CC during 2017.

Hurricane Aid: Matched Donations to Direct Relief

We are sure the Wetpixel community are aware of the swathe of destruction that hurricane Irma has carved through the Caribbean and, it seems, will be doing again in Florida shortly. Following on this storm’s heels are two more hurricanes. Whilst there is little many of us can do to directly help those affected by these events, we all have friends and diving operations that are being impacted right now. Wetpixel has set up a direct fundraising campaign via Facebook to raise money for Direct Relief’s efforts to provide medicine and other health-related services in affected areas. We humbly ask the Wetpixel community to join us in trying to help those in need. Wetpixel will match the first $5K in donations.

Dr. Sylvia Earle has been interviewed and featured in TIME magazine’s latest book FIRSTS Women Who are Changing the World. Earle is featured as the “Oceanographer” for her first of being the first woman to become chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The book has a chapter dedicated to Sylvia, but you can find a video about her here.

An image shot by underwater photographer David Doubilet is featured on the National Geographic Creative Blog this week. The shot was taken off the coast of Cuba and features Jennifer Hayes and a crocodile coming in for a closer look. The “behind the shot” features perspectives from either side of the lens and is part of a larger series of images taken by the duo in Cuba.
